So today we are starting our vegan adventure. I woke up starving. Normally I would mentally review the items in my fridge and generally either eat leftovers or maybe a whole new meal. It would often include meat and almost always include dairy. I am a Canadian girl at heart and cheese is one of the go to foods for me. But not today. Today I ate a bowl of honey bunches of oats. Not organic or sugar free (I don't want to die of shock the first day) but I did eat it with soy milk. I am kinda old fashioned and think my milk should come from cows. NOT BEANS. But I was surprised at its creamy taste and subtle sweetness. On a funny note my cat was not impressed. She likes to have a little milk when I am done but today she just sniffed, and sniffed and sniffed some more before flicking her tail in disdain and walking away. So now, I am if not exactly full, at least not hungry. Teresa is much more naturally a healthy eater than me and had oats with blueberries and almonds. Her struggle will be meat I think. She really likes it. In fact, this morning she looked in neighbors fridge (he let us use his scale) and thought about eating a piece of salami. But as she said: "Hmmm, I don't think salami is vegan". Nope. It is not.
We are headed out now to get lot's of veggies and the ingredients for tonights dinner.
